30 Entrepreneurs Explain What They Love About Being an Entrepreneur

Being in love is great. Being in love with your business, when you’re an entrepreneur, is even better. Waking up each morning knowing you are getting ready to do exactly what you love is more than most people could ever say about any “job” they have had. Although there are days when tossing in your hat seems like a viable option, remembering how much you love your “job” can quickly snap an entrepreneur out of that mentality. Different business owners also have different reasons why they love their businesses. It might be the products or the customers they deal with, or it could even be the fact that they are the ones in charge of it all. The reasons are as varied as the businesses themselves.

We asked some entrepreneurs what they loved about “being their own boss” and here is what they have to say.

#1- Challenges and problem-solving

I love the diversity of challenges being an entrepreneur provides. If I was given the same set of tasks with no obstacles or unique problems to solve, I would absolutely wither away. Being a business owner means if I don't have any problems to solve, I can make problems! This gives me regular accomplishments and stimulation that simply makes my life more interesting. If you can see problem-solving as an opportunity and less of a traumatic event, you'll love the entrepreneur life even when things get hard.

#2- Opportunities for growth

Though there are many things to love about being an entrepreneur, my personal favorite is the opportunities I'm given for personal and professional growth. As an entrepreneur, I must learn to adapt to changing circumstances, take risks, and develop problem-solving skills. Each time I'm faced with a situation that pushes me beyond my comfort zone, I'm able to reinforce the skills I already have while also acquiring new ones that I can use in the future.

#3- Opportunity to explore unlimited earnings

What I love about entrepreneurship is the opportunity to explore unlimited earnings rather than be limited to a fixed salary and the whims of a boss. You can reap profitably by trying new ideas and exploring opportunities to find solutions for specific market needs. You can pick your own team and choose your own clients with whom you find natural alignment while doing what you love to do. Entrepreneurship requires hard work and persistence. If done right, you can measure success in the form of profits that allows you to triple and quadruple your earnings and find true financial freedom.

#4- Sense of ownership & responsibility

Being an entrepreneur is having the freedom to pursue your passions and create your path on your terms. You get to set your schedule, decide which projects are worthy to pursue and choose how you want to run your business. You’re often working on new and innovative ideas, and need to be creative in order to develop and execute these ideas successfully. By creating a business that solves a problem or meets a need, you can make a difference in the lives of your customers and your communities. It often involves taking risks and pushing oneself out of their comfort zone.

#5- Standing true to yourself

Being an entrepreneur allows me to stand true to myself and not just be more concerned with pleasing others. It has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, develop skills and abilities that have made me a better and more competitive person, and given me a sense of purpose rather than remaining chained to a pay package. It tests your mettle and nurtures in you the courage to look into the future and be responsible for your destiny. It gives you a sense of liberty to do your own thing.

#6- Making positive impact

One of the best features of being a business owner is the freedom and creative independence you get. Being an owner means you have chosen the path you know you are interested in, which means you use your creativity at its peak. It gives a sense of freedom to explore a wide range of possibilities. You can engage with employees, share the flow of creativity, and get them on board. You experience the losses and wins firsthand. Your success becomes an inspiration for your fellow workers.

#9- Opportunity to create magic

The thing I love about being an entrepreneur is the opportunity to create something from nothing. The entrepreneurial vision is the greatest creator of solutions for problems that humanity is facing. Being an entrepreneur is truly the road less traveled because very few people have the ability to live with uncertainty and without safety and security. Yet the incredible thing about it is that we have the opportunity to create magic. That spirit of innovation is what inspires me each day.

It lights me up to be able to tap into my entrepreneurial spirit in creative ways every day—whether I’m creatively finding solutions, creatively crafting messaging, or creatively coaching my clients. The most satisfying aspect of being an entrepreneur, in my opinion, is having a sense of responsibility towards different people, such as employees, customers, and investors. This accountability pushes me to do my best work and constantly improve. As an entrepreneur, there are always many people depending on you, which can be overwhelming for some. However, if you thrive in a high-pressure environment, it serves as an excellent motivator to put your best foot forward every day.

I love being an entrepreneur because no two days are the same. Each day I'm faced with new challenges and opportunities to learn new skills. Additionally, it's a rewarding experience. With every decision or project to complete I completely own the results. Having that direct impact on the outcome of our business is extremely fulfilling. And while things don't work out 100% of the time, it's the times in which they do that make it all worthwhile.

#16- Market research

To make the business successful, we need to do research, and research helps me understand how the world really works. That is the reason I love being an entrepreneur. I like it when I create a survey because it enables me to identify market strengths and opportunities. People are different in needs, culture, and moral values. A quantitative research tool like a survey keeps me updated with consumer needs, current trends, and innovations in the market, which helps me create the perfect sales plan. In this way, owning my own business keeps me updated and aware.

My family! I always wanted to be a wife and a mama, so being able to create my own schedule is rewarding. The best part is cooking a great meal they love and watching my children progress as I homeschool them. I get to incorporate entrepreneurship lessons as well because they like real-world strategies. As entrepreneurs or business owners, we have the power to create what we want. Every day we have the opportunity to wake up and decide what we want to create, and how successful we will be. Being an entrepreneur gives me the ability to wake up every day hungry to achieve what I have set out to do. There is no ceiling on what I can create, and the accomplishments I can reach.

#24- Opportunity to explore new things

As entrepreneurs, you have to think in different and creative ways. Often we find unconventional ideas. For example, if you are an employee, you can only implement your idea and test result once your employer/ leader approves it. As an entrepreneur, you can find a new idea, implement, test, check errors, and improve it. Finally, you will succeed or learn something which can help improve your business. You will not get this opportunity while you are an employee, and you may lose your motivation. Entrepreneurship gives you freedom.

#26- Teaching kids how to run a business

My children were babies when I started my business. The fact that my kids got to witness every aspect of how to run a business since they were very young brings me great joy. The icing on the cake was when my sons went off to college and were able to relate to their business courses because they were involved in helping to run my business. Running a business while taking care of a household and raising children can be daunting. But the joy as a mom and business owner when your grown kids look back with respect and pride brings true happiness to me.

I felt like I'd hit my ceiling at my old job – now I feel like there is no ceiling for my success! My work is more fulfilling than it's ever been, because not only have I created a business out of something I'm passionate about (digital marketing), but I also have the freedom to change directions or pursue new ideas.
