30 Entrepreneurs Share Their Thoughts on the Future of Entrepreneurship

Every waking day, we are having tremendous changes in regulations and technology which greatly affect the way businesses operate. Some entrepreneurs will say the future is definitely bright but to others, some of these changes are meant to work against their expansion and business operations. Additionally, there’s growing empowerment and embracing of individuality which motivates more people to begin their entrepreneurship journey. But the big question is, what’s the future of entrepreneurship?

#1-  Driven toward social change

I'd say that the future of entrepreneurship focuses on purpose rather than profit. The main focus is to create something with purpose, not just for money. This means that more and more entrepreneurs are designing solutions to global problems, creating innovative products and services that meet real needs, and driving social change. For example, many entrepreneurs are now focusing on sustainability, renewable energy, health and wellness, and other ethical causes. Entrepreneurship is no longer about getting rich quickly – there's much more to it than that.

#2- Competitive

Over the past decade, entrepreneurship has become huge that the market has become quite saturated. With the evolution of technology, there's room for so much more but the requirements are becoming extremely competitive as consumer behavior is evolving, with the need for personalization, interactivity, engagement, and an epic customer journey. The market is super competitive and if you don't offer what the consumer needs, you won't stand a chance.

For the past decade, digital transformation has slowly but apparently been happening, but over the past couple of years, the speed and transition to digital has reached a point where it is evident that digital is and will completely replace everything else. Especially with Technologies like AR and VR that allow an interactive and engaging experience for consumers from the comfort of their own homes and open up so many possibilities and opportunities. The future of entrepreneurship looks challenging, and that is a good thing. With new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, blockchain, cloud computing, and robotics, entrepreneurs will have more opportunities to create innovative solutions that could revolutionize industries. The future of entrepreneurship is technology, as new opportunities can now be leveraged to create innovative, disruptive business opportunities and solve complex problems. There will be more tech opportunities for new entrepreneurs, even those with zero programming experience. No-code and low-code platforms are making it easier to develop an app, build a platform, or build digital businesses that were once saved for people with in-depth technical knowledge or deep enough pockets to hire them. People with great tech ideas will no longer need the resources to hire expensive developers to build them out, so more great ideas can come to fruition, more entrepreneurs can build great ideas, and consumers can enjoy better products.

With the constant evolution of trends and technology, the future of entrepreneurship sees innovation in value propositions. Each time, a new idea in trends and technology comes up, consumers are quick to catch up and flatter the brands they support. And while these new ideas shape the future, it humbles us, in digital marketing, to be reminded that in a business where we have the responsibility to permeate minds and hearts, we also need to remain one step ahead in anticipating customer needs and setting the next best practices in our respective fields.

In the future, I think we’ll see more and more young people deciding to be entrepreneurs. The job market is unstable and it’s difficult for them to find well-paying jobs, so the idea that you can create your own opportunities and career is a no-brainer. The possibility of complete flexibility and autonomy is very attractive. With technology, almost everyone has access to an abundance of information and options. People are now more than willing to try different options rather than sticking to a single product or company for generations. Consumers are constantly looking for better-quality variations of existing products and these are becoming more prevalent every day. We as consumers now have a huge array of options for almost everything, which is great as it pushes the firms to better their products and fight for the monopoly.

#16- Inventiveness

Entrepreneurship thrives on a healthy dose of creative thinking. Unfortunately, it's all too common for companies to lose their sense of adventure as their brand grows in popularity. They stop putting out content that is both risky and significant and unique. Future business owners will be individuals who understand the importance of being themselves completely. Their enterprises will become more imaginative and creative as they expand.

Traditionally, entrepreneurs had profit as their driving motive but the future of entrepreneurship is now focused on small businesses creating a purpose as well. When thinking about the future of entrepreneurship and business, I think we can expect to see increased automation and digitization in the workplace, making it easier than ever before to start a business—especially for single-person endeavors, where automation will make it easier to streamline processes without a team. The future of entrepreneurship is borderless and has locations. Businesses will exist in virtual form from anywhere in the world with the ability to do business with anyone anywhere in the world. Endless possibilities in a location less world where the online world is the key to it all! Even location-based companies will have to open their doors to doing business globally and actual places will only be significant because of the fact that it’s where certain people will meet.

#23- Exciting and uncertain

#24- Rise of solopreneurs

We are going to see more solopreneurs and small agencies providing services that used to be done by employees. We are already seeing this in many professional settings, such as CFO and CMOs, where professionals are now serving multiple businesses in fractional roles. This trend is going to continue, both as a way for individuals to make more money and have more control and for companies to cut the costs of a full-time employee.

#25- There are more opportunities

There is a renewed interest in profitability at this time but I wouldn't be fooled; intense competition fueled by venture capital will slowly creep back up. The most significant shift coming. US-based startups are racing to contract top-tier talent from all over the World. This phenomenon will significantly accelerate the pace at which companies launch and iterate. For example, Uber's early app was developed by a team of developers in Mexico, and today the enterprise provides a global utility.

#26- Lower barriers to entry

The future of entrepreneurship is decentralized with lower barriers to entry. We're already seeing a wide range of side hustles become commonplace. What I think we will continue to see are more and more businesses set up to help people with their side projects and eventually, their businesses. Just looking at my own career, a decade ago, you literally couldn't find subscription software that also handled one-time payments. Now you can build that site with a combo of Woocommerce and WordPress in under an hour.

#27- It will not be overly saturated

As long as there is a need for what you are selling and the market is not overly saturated for the vertical you are looking to establish a business in, the future of entrepreneurship looks bright. Fundamentally, it all comes down to having a smart business model that can be scaled appropriately. If you have the right resources, the right people, and smart, achievable goals, your business should be a success.

Thanks to Ben Tabai, Amaryllis!

#28- Increased demand for specific services

I believe the future of business lies with entrepreneurs who can make an impact by providing expertise or services addressing specific needs within a particular industry. For example, traditional home services such as plumbing, electrical, and handyman services are particularly useful and will always be needed. From a more technical standpoint, applications that help people manage time better, organize their finances, monitor their health, or order food directly from local restaurants to be delivered are useful. Any entrepreneur who can provide a service that is in demand has a fighting chance.

Thanks to Jonathan Portner, Portner & Shure!

#29- Creation of small companies

The future of entrepreneurship isn’t about the creation of large, gigantic companies that swallow up everyone else along the way. The future of entrepreneurship is about smaller, grassroots companies that allow people to work for themselves and make a living for each other. There will be way more entrepreneurs in the future who can run their own small companies and be successful in their own way without having to create a company that becomes a multi-million dollar empire.

#30- Economically stable

Entrepreneurship will evolve and accommodate younger age groups as Web3, Cryptocurrency, and a massive shift in the digital age provide a plethora of opportunities for young entrepreneurs. That being said, the future of entrepreneurship will be one of more excellent economic stability and purpose in future generations, as they will be able to impact and inspire on a whole new level.
