11 Entrepreneurs Explain What They Love About Being an Entrepreneur

Being in love is great. Being in love with your business, when you’re an entrepreneur, is even better. Waking up each morning knowing you are getting ready to do exactly what you love is more than most people could ever say about any “job” they have had. Although there are days when tossing in your hat seems like a viable option, remembering how much you love your “job” can quickly snap an entrepreneur out of that mentality. Different business owners also have different reasons why they love their businesses. It might be the products or the customers they deal with, or it could even be the fact that they are the ones in charge of it all. The reasons are as varied as the businesses themselves.

We asked entrepreneurs and business owners what they loved about “being their own boss” and here is what they have to say:

#1- Creativity and innovation

Creativity & Innovation – I see endless opportunities to innovate, create new products or services, & solve complex problems. I absolutely love the process of bringing creative ideas to life & disrupting industries with innovative solutions. Autonomy & Flexibility- I have the freedom to pursue my passions & ideas, make decisions independently, & embark on my own journey. Autonomy is empowering & fulfilling for me. Learning & Growth- Entrepreneurship is a journey of continuous learning, growth, & self-improvement. I encounter new challenges every day, & am willing to acquire new skills, & gain valuable experience.

#2- Work flexibility

As a mum of three, work flexibility is a non-negotiable. I'm a portrait photographer & a lot of time is spent at the computer, but it doesn't always need to be in the traditional work hours. I'll complete 7 years in business in a few months & the flexibility allows me to engage with my kids in ways that I never could before working for myself. I'm able to be there for my kid's school drop-offs, pick-ups, & most special activity days. Being from a health background prior to my own business, there would have been immense guilt at missing these activities with my kids or taking time off & leaving my team.

#3- Ability to create a culture

Being an entrepreneur and business owner comes with many challenges and benefits, yet I find one of the biggest rewards is the opportunity to help educate others. What I love about being an entrepreneur is the ability to create a culture that not only encourages a love of learning, growth & personal development within the workplace but in the greater community, too. I consider it a great privilege to be able to use my position as an entrepreneur to ignite a passion for learning in others, so much so that one of TechnoLynx's core values is “We learn and grow, and we help others to learn and grow.”

#4- Control over my own destiny

Being an entrepreneur in real estate offers a great deal of flexibility and control over my own destiny. I have the autonomy to make decisions, set goals, and determine the direction of my business. This level of independence allows me to align my work with my personal values and priorities, creating a sense of fulfillment and purpose in what I do. The potential for financial freedom and wealth creation is a significant aspect of being a real estate entrepreneur. Real estate investments have the potential to generate substantial returns and build long-term wealth.

#5- Continuous evolution and discovery

As an entrepreneur, the aspect I love most about this journey is the continuous evolution & discovery it brings. Every day presents a new opportunity to innovate, solve problems, & create value. This dynamic environment constantly challenges me to grow both personally & professionally. As the founder of The VL Studios, I have the privilege to directly impact the lives of my clients & team members. The satisfaction of seeing an idea transform into reality & knowing it makes a tangible difference is immensely gratifying.

#6- Challenges

My favorite part of being an entrepreneur is that there's never a dull moment. Every day brings a new challenge, & with those challenges comes a new opportunity to innovate and make an impact. For instance, we're not just sending text messages in business messaging. We're helping companies build trust with their clients through secure, trusted communication channels. Watching how our solutions enable businesses worldwide to scale quickly and fight fraud is exciting, especially in this digital era where security is everything.

#7- Being in control

Being an entrepreneur allows you to explore your own interests, and adapt, direct, and align your business operations with anything you like. I work in the creative industry, but being in control has allowed me to explore, embrace and utilize this new generation of AI tools within my business. I am empowered to make huge business changes quickly, with no resistance. Staying on trend and relevant is ultimately what makes a good entrepreneur.

#8- Freedom and creativity

We can confirm that one of the most enjoyable elements of our trip is the freedom and creativity it allows us. Entrepreneurship helps us to make concrete contributions to our sector by developing company strategies & implementing creative solutions. We welcome the chance to face issues straight on, continually looking for innovative methods to improve our services and exceed our customers' expectations. Furthermore, observing our company's development and success over time is extremely rewarding, demonstrating our hard work and devotion.

#9- Money, status and control

Being an entrepreneur is tougher than just being an employee. Longer hours, more responsibility, more chances to screw up, more likelihood of having to take the blame. So what I love about it is the money of course & the status is nice. But what I really love most about being an entrepreneur is the control. Over situations, over the business, over my own life, not fully. Entrepreneurs know how quickly & easily the entire business can go south, leaving them nowhere. But they also know that much of their fate lies in their own hands & that's the joy.

#10- The freedom

What I love about owning my own medical practice is the freedom it gives me to do what I think is best. When treating patients, it is important to be able to freely exercise medical judgment in accordance with the medical state of the art. My patients benefit from my ability to make decisions about adopting new technologies or treatment options. For example, when Spravato gained FDA approval for the treatment of Depression, I was able to make the decision that our practice would begin to offer Spravato. The ability to apply my medical judgment & make business decisions that align with it is one of the best aspects of owning my practice.

#11- Applying problem-solving skills

One of the things I love most about being an entrepreneur is applying problem-solving skills to develop our offerings. An entrepreneur needs to truly understand their target market, including their challenges, pain points, values, & goals, as well as where & how your products or services can help. In my business, this has meant offering a wide variety of exhibit sizes, layouts, styles, & custom designs to facilitate different business objectives. It also means recognizing new needs & opportunities. For me, one of the most important elements of this is anticipating our clients’ complete exhibiting process.
