Being in love is great. Being in love with your business, when you’re an entrepreneur, is even better. Waking up each morning knowing you are getting ready to do exactly what you love is more than most people could ever say about any “job” they have had. Although there are days when tossing in your hat seems like a viable option, remembering how much you love your “job” can quickly snap an entrepreneur out of that mentality. Different business owners also have different reasons why they love their businesses. It might be the products or the customers they deal with, or it could even be the fact that they are the ones in charge of it all. The reasons are as varied as the businesses themselves.
We asked entrepreneurs and business owners what they loved about “being their own boss” and here is what they have to say.
#1- Being able to create from scratch
I feel that being able to create from scratch an idea and watch it come to fruition is the most engaging part of being an entrepreneur. Setting your own hours (not at the beginning of a startup), having autonomy to choose and develop your staff, learning all aspects of the business, and seeing satisfied clients or customers can be intoxicating. The culture of effectiveness or engagement is not only for the clients served. I love seeing employees feel supported, challenged, and rewarded when they grow.

#2- Creating a happy work environment
I grew up in ad-agency land and noticed a major flaw at marketing firms: judging employees based on hours worked, rather than merit. So what I love about entrepreneurship is the ability to create a work environment in my industry where people actually want to work. Where profits are not the only numbers that matter. As an entrepreneur, I can practice what I preach and create a professional atmosphere that promotes a true work/life balance.
Thanks to Josh Rosen, Hotspex Media!
#3- Creating jobs and solving real-world problems
Being an entrepreneur is like diving into this crazy, exciting adventure where you can call the shots. As an entrepreneur, I create jobs, solve real-world problems, and shape the world in my own small way. Plus, the fantastic people I meet, the strength I find in myself, and the non-stop learning make this journey a crazy mix of challenge and reward. Every new day as an entrepreneur is like opening a new chapter in a book I can't put down, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
Thanks to Kraig Kleeman, The New Workforce!
#4- Using multipotential skills
Being an entrepreneur can be exciting yet also challenging and even lonely at times. But I wouldn't change it for the world. As a multipotentialite, I have a wide range of skills. As an entrepreneur, I wear many hats. Whether strategizing, planning, creating, marketing, accounting, teaching, or more, I get to use my skill set and I keep learning new skills all the time. It not only keeps things interesting, it also translates to personal growth. I know I'm making an impact in people's lives and that is my legacy.

#5- The art of adapting
What I love about being an entrepreneur is that it's a never-ending learning opportunity. I've also found that being an entrepreneur has taught me how to be more adaptable than I ever thought possible. If you're not willing to change with the times, your business will suffer for it. That's why I believe entrepreneurship is one of the most important skills a person can develop: because it teaches us how to roll with the punches and adjust our tactics as needed in order to succeed.
Thanks to Mac Steer, Simify!
#6- Contribution to a diverse world
I'm deeply passionate about the freedom to create and innovate that entrepreneurship affords. Through our agency, we've made it our mission to celebrate the beauty of diversity, challenging traditional norms and fostering a culture of acceptance and appreciation for everyone. This dynamic autonomy fuels our drive to continue this passionate journey, leaving a lasting impact on beauty standards and contributing to a more diverse and beautiful world.

#7- Autonomy to make crucial decisions
As an entrepreneur, there are several aspects of my journey that I deeply appreciate. Firstly, the autonomy to make crucial decisions and chart the course of my own business is incredibly empowering. Furthermore, the entrepreneurial path offers boundless opportunities for creativity and innovation. Being an entrepreneur grants me the flexibility to implement these innovations at my own pace, ensuring that we always remain at the forefront of pet care.
Thanks to Mollie Newton, PetMeTwice!
#8- Moving at your own pace
I love being an entrepreneur because I no longer report to anyone above my head, I only report to myself. I can make my own hours, and attend all school events for my 3 children and I no longer have to worry about whether my boss will grant my leave or not. Furthermore, I can set my own pay rate and decide how much I want to earn annually and work at achieving that. And probably the best thing of all about being an entrepreneur is I get to do what I love, every single day.

#9- Constant learning and personal growth
Being an entrepreneur is a thrilling journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. We have the freedom to chart our own course, set our vision, and make decisions that directly impact the success of our businesses. The constant learning and personal growth that come with entrepreneurship are incredibly rewarding. The satisfaction of seeing our hard work translate into a thriving venture is what keeps us motivated and excited every day.

#10- Empowering people to achieve goals
Being an entrepreneur and a business owner for 4 companies is rewarding to see that I am improving/changing in improving their lives. Empowering people with a disability and our staff members to achieve their goals in life, and it is so satisfactory when they come to me and thank me for believing in them. Giving people hope, integrity, and self-worth.

#11- Freedom to pursue your own vision
One of the main things about being an entrepreneur is the sense of independence and autonomy. As an entrepreneur, you have the freedom to make your own decisions and pursue your own vision. Additionally, being an entrepreneur allows you to have a direct impact on the success of your business. You have the opportunity to pursue your passions and create something meaningful. The entrepreneurial journey can be challenging, but the rewards are worth it.
Thanks to Jonathan Zacharias, GR0!
#12- The ownership and flexibility
I like being in control of my own business and career. I like that I can decide how I want to work, how I want to run my business, and who I want to work with. I regularly have to do things I don't particularly enjoy. But it's my decision to do so, and I've chosen that approach because I think it's best for the business and my career. In addition, I like the flexibility of choosing my own hours and place of work.

#13- Bridging gaps in e-commerce fulfillment
Entrepreneurship is a vessel of transformation, both for the individual and the market. Each day presents an opportunity to impact the e-commerce landscape positively, by developing intelligent warehousing and tailored fulfillment solutions that democratize success for brands of all sizes. The camaraderie and synergy within our team as we collectively strive towards redefining e-commerce, coupled with the satisfaction of seeing our clients thrive, encapsulates what I love about being an entrepreneur.

#14- Turning dreams into reality
As a co-founder of BelBagno Bathware, my journey in the world of business has been a thrilling adventure. What I love most about being a business owner is the boundless creativity and the opportunity to shape our brand's unique identity. The ability to make bold decisions, innovate, and connect with our customers is immensely rewarding. BelBagno has allowed me to turn my dreams into reality, and I'm excited to continue this journey.

#15- Freedom to decide the company's direction
As the head of Diabetic Insurance Solutions, I can say with absolute certainty that becoming an entrepreneur is a phenomenal experience. I love being an entrepreneur because it gives me the freedom to try new things and make a real difference in people's lives. It's certainly thrilling to have the chance to learn, adapt, and develop more every day. Having the freedom to direct the company's direction, create a unique company culture, and build a committed staff is also extremely satisfying.
Thanks to Hassan Sanders, Diabetic Insurance Solutions!
#16- Independence to make decisions
The freedom to chart my own course and the thrill of building something unique are the two things I cherish most about being an entrepreneur. For years, I've relished the privilege of crafting my own path, whether it's in choosing the clients and team members I work with or in setting the vision for my business. The independence to make decisions and drive change is incredibly empowering, and the ability to witness the direct impact of my efforts is a constant source of motivation.

#17- Freedom to turn a vision into reality
One particular moment I remember very fondly is a late-night brainstorming session with my then-small team, where we conceptualized a campaign that not only elevated our client's brand but also set the tone for all of our future endeavors. That sense of creative autonomy, as well as the palpable impact of our efforts, were the sparks that fueled my love for being an entrepreneur. It's the freedom to turn a vision into reality, to navigate uncharted waters, and to witness the tangible results of strategic decisions.

#18- A versatile journey
One of the things I often cherish as an entrepreneur is the ability to turn their passion into a business. Being an entrepreneur, you have the freedom to work on something you genuinely love and believe in. This alignment between my personal interests and professional pursuits can be incredibly fulfilling. Most importantly, entrepreneurship is a multifaceted adventure that lets me pursue my passions and find meaning in my work. Simultaneously, it's a journey of collaboration, learning, and building relationships that can enrich not only my business but my life as well.

#19- Constant drive to push boundaries
Being an entrepreneur is an exhilarating journey filled with challenges and triumphs. The thrill of charting my own course, making critical decisions, and witnessing the direct results of my efforts is immensely gratifying. Every day brings new opportunities for growth, and this constant drive to push boundaries is what makes this journey truly fulfilling.

#20- The freedom to shape your vision
I'm Cody, the founder and CEO of Searchbloom, a digital marketing firm specializing in SEO and PPC advertising. Being an entrepreneur has been an incredible journey for me. The best part is that I can combine my interests in analytics and creativity. I enjoy the challenge of developing data-driven, high-converting marketing campaigns that deliver real ROI to our clients. Entrepreneurship grants you the freedom to shape your vision, build a team that shares your drive, and impact businesses meaningfully.
Thanks to Cody Jensen, SEARCHBLOOM!
#21- Fostering a culture of creativity and ambition
Being an entrepreneur, especially in the e-commerce wholesale clothing industry, is incredibly rewarding. What I love most is the opportunity to transform ideas into reality, shaping the direction of the business and witnessing its growth firsthand. #22- Privilege of being a change-maker
Entrepreneurship is a journey of constant growth and learning. It's about embracing failures as opportunities to learn and grow stronger. It's about building a resilient mindset and an unwavering belief in your vision. The beauty of entrepreneurship lies in its unpredictability and the joy of pushing boundaries. It's not just a career; it's a way of life where you challenge the status quo, make an impact, and leave a lasting legacy. So, what I love about being an entrepreneur is the privilege of being a changemaker, even if it means challenging common beliefs along the way.
Thanks to Michael E. Mastin, Bowlake Chinese!
#23- Opportunity to contribute positively
What I absolutely love most about being an entrepreneur is the opportunity to contribute positively to society and the environment, and the profound sense of purpose and fulfillment that comes with it. Knowing that manufacturing our ice rinks is a carbon-neutral process that requires no electricity, is a feat not many businesses have achieved. For us, it's not just about profit – it's about leaving a lasting legacy of a greener, cleaner planet without compromising on the pleasure and passion of ice skating.
Thanks to Viktor Meier, Glice!

What I truly love about being an entrepreneur is the opportunity to bring my vision to life and make a tangible impact on the industry I'm passionate about. I cherish the ability to create something meaningful, provide employment opportunities, and contribute to the livelihoods of our team members. The dynamism of entrepreneurship, where no two days are the same, keeps me engaged and motivated. Being an entrepreneur is incredibly fulfilling because you see how your business has grown thanks to hard work, innovation, and a committed team.
