Since its introduction, blockchain technology has been in the news nearly every day, with a better understanding being made each day of blockchain’s potential advantages and uses in a wide range of industries.
At the forefront of this emerging technology, Cameron Chell is a serial startup entrepreneur and Chairman and co-founder of ICOx Innovations Inc., a publicly-traded company that harnesses blockchain economies and corporate currencies to build regulated, and branded corporate currencies to solve real-world problems.
Chell has several blockchain-related projects for major brands in development, all with common goals to create branded cryptocurrencies.
You’ve been starting and growing startups in the technology, energy and finance sectors for over 25 years. What sparked your interest to explore blockchain technology and all it has to offer?
Cameron Chell: In my mind, blockchain really is a game changer. I believe blockchain technology has the serious potential to upend entire industries. At ICOx Innovations, we see blockchain as a new form of capitalization for companies, but more importantly a new disruptive tool for them to own larger markets that they are already in. Think of it this way – if blockchain technology allows us to more securely and transparently track all types of transactions, imagine the possibilities this presents across the board.
Through a brand licensing agreement with KODAK, ICOx Innovations and RYDE Holding have partnered with Kodak to launch the KODAKOne platform and the KODAKCoin, a digital currency that protects, distributes and licenses the work of content creators. How is this changing the imaging industry.
Cameron Chell: There’s been an overwhelming response from not just the imaging industry, but the music industry, the film industry, the virtual reality space, basically almost anything digital that you can think of where, ‘Hey wow, rights management can be restored here. We’re certainly going to look at all that stuff – but we’re very much focused on images first.
You run several successful businesses and as CEO of Business Instincts Group, you’ve helped launch a number of tech start-ups (including Draganfly, Raptor Rig, ColdBore, FutureLink, Slyce and Urthecast). What fuels your passion?
Cameron Chell: The people around me. I am fortunate to get to be a part of creating and building amazing products and companies. I work with fellow entrepreneurs, executives and investors to determine what is most important and exactly how to get it done. This specifically includes thinking BIG, product development, strategic planning, team alignment, execution and measurement.
As a motivational speaker, you have helped thousands of people on their personal journeys, sharing with your audience about your own experiences. Can you speak to this?
Cameron Chell: In my life, I’ve conquered my own demons and have overcome adversity. I believe that while adversity is a struggle, it is also a necessary achievement. It is a true test of strength; those who overcome adversity learn valuable life lessons. Everyone has been on a difficult journey at some point, but it is the end result that is fulfilling.
