The History Channel is premiering an eight-hour event series called The Men Who Built America on Tuesday, October 16 at 9 p.m. and will chronicle the lives of Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan and Henry Ford.

John Pierpont Morgan (J.P. Morgan) was an American financier, banker, philanthropist and art collector that dominated corporate finance and industrial consolidation. He arranged the merger of what became General Electric. After financing the creation of the Federal Steel Company, he merged in 1901 with the Carnegie Steel Company and other iron and steel businesses to form the United States Steel Corporation.
