Entrepreneur Teaches Top Companies Sessions on Improving Employees Productivity & Quality of Life

Behind some of the biggest companies such as Coca Cola is a system of how they stay focused on their goals.  The DeRose Method, is a system of techniques and concepts with the purpose of improving the practitioner's level of high performance and quality of life. The DeRose Method teaches individuals how to live in high performance by pursuing brain, emotions and body mastery through techniques (breathing, body awareness and physical health, relaxation, concentration, meditation) and concepts (mental attitude, ability to cope with pressure, behavioral and emotional management, relational skills and management, stress management and good nourishment).

We had a chance to interview John Chisenhall and asked about his story, how he started his business and the future of DeRose Method and Founder of Enhance Human Performance.

Tell us your story. Why did you start your business?

I was raised in an entrepreneurial family environment, so it didn’t take long for me to recognize the value of working for myself; my father is the founder of Vintage Air Inc., the inventors of performance air conditioning for everything from hot rods to modern supercars. I started working at the family business during summers at the age of 10 and was exposed to the inner workings of a growing small business. After receiving a B.A. of Economics from Texas A&M, I decided to dedicate a year to travel in Latin America to expose myself to different cultures, people and ideas before making any concrete steps towards starting my own business. Traveling is the best way to gain perspective on potential business opportunities. I am a firm believer that your work should be about what you can contribute. The world is not built to make you happy, nor provide you a job that gives you purpose. The universe isn’t for or against you; it simply doesn’t care. While in Buenos Aires, Argentina I joined a DeRose Method school and I soon realized how incredibly effective it had been in helping me reach my goals.

How did you come up with your business name?

My company name is Enhance Human Performance, and our DBA is DeRose Method Greenwich Village because we want to harness the power of global brand recognition.

Tell us about your products and services. How do you help clients?

The DeRose Method is a proposal emphasizing quality of life, good habits and attitudes, good relationships, proper nutrition, good physical fitness & health, and good culture. We start our clients with an interview to self-evaluate different aspects of their life, such as their relationships, nutrition, physical health, emotional health, mental health, and intuition. We then set goals to work on their objectives and weak spots. With a plan in place, the student begins to train techniques such as breathing, strength, flexibility, and movement with our instructors in a group or private setting.

Our levels of performance, happiness, and self-realization are impacted by so much more than what can be captured by the concept of body and mind. In fact, our school teaches that we have several dimensions of different natures, substances, and levels of subtlety, of which the most important are: physical, emotional, mental and intuitional. This pedagogic explanation describing the different dimensions of Man is attractive to the intellectually inclined, but it’s not nearly as important as merely improving your behaviors, habits, attitudes, and interactions with the world you exist in.

Our techniques have a positive impact on the individual’s overall health and well-being, and although that is great, the fact remains that these results only impact the individual. On the other hand, by adopting good behaviors, habits, and attitudes that boost performance and quality of life, you become an instrument for good in all your social circles, including your professional life and beyond. Doors of opportunity begin to open to you when your example creates shock waves that positively impact all degrees of your social circles. The benefits of this are immeasurable and often go unnoticed but make no mistake; they are as real as anything else in this world. You may get a great job because you’re talented, but you keep your job (or get promoted) because of your soft skills.

What makes you unique? What is your unique selling proposition (USP)?

The DeRose Method is not just an optimization practice, it’s a lifestyle. Our system is extremely comprehensive, technical and pragmatic. As pioneers in the field since 1960, The DeRose Method provides more than solutions; it offers a sustainable and long-term support structure for personal development and the enhancement of performance on a personal and professional level. Our work produces a powerful synergy between the physiological, emotional, mental and intuitional aspects, producing more sustainable and holistic results. We were the first and continue to be the only method that successfully combines high-performance concepts and practices. We came to this solution ahead of the curve because we are imperfect humans doing our best to practice what we teach. We are not trying to create something new, we are trying to take what genuinely works and use it to help others perform at their absolute best.

Where do you see your business in the next 3-5 years?

I see at least five new USA locations and probably 20 locations internationally. There is excellent growth potential in working with other leaders, locally and internationally.

Any advice you would give to entrepreneurs and business owners?

Always make time to enjoy yourself. Set aside time for family, friends and recreation.

What is your favorite business quote and why?

“Do what you can with what you have, wherever you are”.

– Theodore Roosevelt
