I've always enjoyed helping others learn. This year was my turn! 2023 has been Year #1 for Boosting Leadership, LLC – a leadership development-focused organization offering executive coaching, leadership skills training, and results improvement services. I started the company to focus my efforts where I felt I could make the biggest impact – guiding other leaders to drive sustainably improved results.  Whereas this year was all about my learning how to start a business, 2024 will be a year of impact helping develop better leaders who deliver strong and lasting results.

For Villanova Contour, our word of 2023 is ‘confidence'. We have worked tirelessly to build our brand over this year, with an aim to promote our work as specialists in Fat Freezing, a relatively new procedure in Australia. Bringing a new product or service to market can be daunting, as you don't know how it will be received by the consumer. I harnessed my confidence in Villanova Contour, knowing that this would be a popular service, and my confidence has helped me to overcome the challenges of a modern business owner.

If I were to select a single term that best represents our core values, it would undoubtedly be “Clarity.” In the realm of content creation, clarity reigns supreme. I'm Sam Romain, the CEO of Hemponix, and if I were to select a single word that encapsulates both myself and our company's essence this year, it would undoubtedly be Innovation. In 2023, at Hemponix, we've fully embraced innovation, making it a core value that permeates every facet of our operations. #6- Growth

The word to describe 2023 for us would be growth. This year Boutique Fitness Studios has had significant growth in our network with us reaching 93 sold locations and 40 open locations. Our support team has grown in size but we have also grown in experience and knowledge. The industry and economy are throwing curveballs all the time and we are quick to learn, adapt, and train our franchisees to do the same. We have rolled out new technology, partnerships, and processes and believe all brands are poised to continue growing through 2024.

My one word is IMPACT. Little did I know that my husband and I decided on our future 3 years before his sudden death. We talked about the “what if”. The theory became reality. “Create the happiest life possible for you and the boys” became our North Star in our darkest hour. That decision inspired me to share our story – how to do grief differently from what society suggests. I offered the healing I needed to the world, which led me to become a bestselling author, TEDx and keynote speaker, and the creator of Grief Revolution – Reimagine a life worth loving.

That word would undoubtedly be “pioneer”. In this “no breaks on this train” industry that is called digital marketing, being a pioneer doesn’t mean riding the current trends. It’s all about creating the trends, as egotistical as that may sound. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve collaborated with small businesses struggling with digital obscurity, a problem I’ve solved by pioneering social media campaigns that were unconventional more often than not. Unlike some fellow digital marketers I know, I’m constantly reassessing my strategies and listening to digital whispers.

If I had to summarise the essence of my store and me into a single word for 2023, it would undoubtedly be “resilience.” The reason why I chose this particular word is due to the intricate nature of the natural stones I sell. Much like these stones withstand the tests of time, my business has weathered a boatload of challenges in 2023, always adapting and evolving. In an ever-changing landscape, this kind of resilience is a must – it’s the bedrock upon which I continue to build my legacy, as cliché as that may sound.

#11- Animated explainer video production

For more than a decade, I’ve been offering the one and only service: animated explainer video production. But this year, I’ve been exploring some potential new services to add to the menu. From animated music video services to voice-over recording services to book summary services. All of this exploration has enriched my business offerings and brought a fresh perspective to the menu– which can also provide a more diverse range of services for the clients.

The one word that represents our business is technically an acronym, but it’s DIY. Our plumbing business doesn’t want to drain our clients' wallets, just their drains, so we strive to educate them on DIY tips and tricks they can try on their own before calling a professional. While we emphasize that they only try DIY projects they are confident in to avoid further damage, we want them to feel they can do it independently occasionally and don’t always need to contact professionals. Whether on how to stop bugs from coming up the drain, drano alternatives, remove rust from copper pipes, and more, we strive to teach DIY tips that could be useful for our customers!
