How Entrepreneurs Prioritize Tasks and Manage Time Effectively

1. Intentional excellence

The personal value that drives how I run the company is intentional excellence, doing fewer things, but doing them exceptionally well. In the luxury space, it’s easy to chase trends or short-term growth, but I believe long-term brand equity is built on craftsmanship, integrity, and disciplined decision-making. Every product we release must meet a high standard of design, functionality, and durability, because our customers are investing in pieces that should last for years. That same philosophy guides how I build our team and partnerships: clarity, accountability, and a commitment to creating real value rather than noise.

Thanks to Dario Markovic, Eric Javits!

2. Sustainable living

In my daily life, I aim to reduce my footprint by thinking intentionally and resourcefully, from composting and growing our own fruit and vegetables to supporting local and living more self-sufficiently with my partner. That same mindset is embedded in my business, where we created the world’s first zero-waste, lifetime candle. Lunaire isn’t just a product; it’s a reflection of how we choose to live and what we believe modern luxury should look like. We exist to prove that you can enjoy a beautiful, elevated lifestyle while being deeply mindful of how and what you consume.

Thanks to Krish Waje, Lunaire!

3. Genuine Service

The value that anchors everything I do is genuine service. Not the “customer service” checkbox kind, but the deep, personal commitment to making sure the people I work with are actually winning. I've spent 20 years in boardrooms, agency trenches, and startup war rooms, and the most rewarding moments were never about the revenue numbers. They were about the founder who finally felt in control of their growth, or the executive who stopped losing sleep over their marketing. I run my company the same way I'd want to be treated; with honesty, care, and a real hunger to see you succeed.

Thanks to Reed Hansen, Market Surge!

4. Connection

The value that drives everything I do is genuine connection. As a dad of two, I know how isolating those early parenting days can feel; the 2 a.m. feeds, the overwhelming decisions, the constant wondering if you‘re doing it right. That feeling is exactly why I've spent over 15 years building tools and resources that bring parents together and make them feel less alone. With over 140,000 families now part of our community, I never lose sight of who's on the other end of every email, every article, every giveaway. These are real parents navigating real challenges.

Thanks to Cory Arsic, Canadian Parent!

5. Health and sustainability

Health and sustainability are the two core values. I wanted to create a one-stop shop where customers could find toxin-free, vegan, and cruelty-free products for all their health and beauty needs – without having to compromise on their values. I knew our business operations had to reflect the same commitment. That's why we made the decision to remove plastic packaging from our online store entirely. For me, running a values-driven business means that every decision – from the brands we stock to the way we ship – aligns with the healthier, more sustainable world we want to help create.

Thanks to Aida Rejzovic, Sassy Organics!

6. Curiosity

I run my company on curiosity. The real estate industry has operated the same way for decades, and I've never been willing just to accept “that's how it's always been done” as a reason to stop questioning. When I look at the new construction market, I see opportunities to make the experience smarter, cleaner, and more human for buyers. That drive to find a better way is what led me to build a digital platform before most in this space were thinking that way. My team knows I'll always push for a smarter solution.

Thanks to Wendy Porter, New Home Atlanta!

7. Customer obsession

My north star has always been the collector. Before I built a single feature at WatchRoster, I asked what would actually make their life easier. That obsession with the end user is the value that bleeds into everything I do. I prioritize functionality that saves people real time and real money over anything that just looks impressive. I believe companies that stay fanatically close to their customers outlast those chasing trends. When collectors feel their collection is organized and valued the way it deserves to be, everything else follows.

Thanks to Allen Tellis, WatchRoster!

8. Safety commitment

If there's one thing I've never been willing to compromise on, it's safety. In an industry where families hand over responsibility for their kids' fun, trust has to be earned through more than a great-looking website. I've poured a lot of resources into clean, inspected, and well-maintained equipment because the families we serve deserve to know their kids are safe on every inflatable and carnival ride we provide. Trust is earned through actions, not words. Our clients return because they know our standards never slip.

Thanks to Joe Horan, Jumper Bee!

9. Responsibility and accountability

The value that drives everything here is accountability. When a hospital goes down at 2 am, when a bank can't process transactions, or when a government agency loses control of its systems, someone has to own the response. Do not point fingers or wait for a vendor to show up. Own it. That belief shapes how we build ShadowHQ and run our team. We build tools that work when nothing else does, ensuring teams know exactly what to do next when their worst day arrives.

Thanks to Nick Scozzaro, ShadowHQ!

10. Craftsmanship and consistency

I've always believed that the standard you set on day one has to be the same standard you hold on day one thousand. Running Made Man Barbershop across six Manhattan locations means every client gets the same level of precision and care. My personal values come down to craftsmanship and consistency. I grew up understanding that how you do anything is how you do everything, and that shows up in how we train our barbers, treat our clients, and maintain our shops. That commitment to doing the work right shapes every business decision I make.

Thanks to Daniel Chulpayev, Made Man Barbershop!

11. Structured systems

Service, accountability, and long-term relationships drive how I run my business. Real estate isn’t a transaction business to me; it’s a relationship business built on trust. After 27 years in this industry, I’ve seen how important steady leadership is during high-pressure decisions. At Jeff Burke & Associates, we create structure and systems that allow our team to serve clients at a high level every time. I value preparation because it creates confidence, and transparency because it eliminates stress for buyers and sellers.

Thanks to Jeff Burke, Jeff Burke & Associates!

12. Clear ownership

I run my company from a simple place: say what you mean, build what you promise, and treat people in a way that lets you sleep well at night. Reputation compounds fast, and I care deeply about ownership. Everyone on my team knows where they stand, what they’re responsible for, and how their work moves the business forward. Candor over comfort, long-term trust over short-term wins. When we make mistakes, we own them quickly and fix them properly. When we win, we share credit.

Thanks to Yaroslav Kyrychenko, Tarotoo!

13. Integrity-driven leadership

At the core of everything I do as a lawyer is an unwavering commitment to integrity. Early in my career, working on the defense side of insurance litigation, I saw how powerful information and strategy could be and how easily that power could be misused against everyday people. That experience shaped everything. I crossed over because I believed the law should protect people, not overwhelm them. Every client deserves honesty about where their case stands, transparency throughout the process, and a lawyer who fights for their outcome.

Thanks to Tony Kalka, Kalka Law!

14. People-first leadership

At the heart of how I lead is a deeply held belief: people are the most powerful competitive advantage any organization has. That conviction has guided my 35+ years in adult learning and development and shows up in everything we do, from the soft-skills resources we create to the online community we've built for HR and learning professionals through webinars, workshops, and podcasts. I run this company by building relationships with our team, our clients, and the broader HR community we serve. People-first isn’t a slogan; it’s the operating principle behind every strategy we execute.

Thanks to Bradford R. Glaser, HRDQ!

15. Honest communication

The one value that has shaped everything about the way I run my team in Nashville is honesty, even when it's uncomfortable. Real estate is one of the most emotional and high-stakes experiences a person can go through, and I believe clients deserve the full picture, not just what they want to hear. That means being transparent about market conditions, pricing realities, and what it truly takes to get results. When you lead with honesty and respect, trust follows naturally and becomes the backbone of every successful transaction.

16. Discipline, transparency, and long-term stewardship

The values that shape how I run my company are discipline, transparency, and long-term stewardship. Discipline means we make decisions based on durable fundamentals rather than short-term noise, whether in capital allocation, hiring, or strategic pivots. Transparency ensures clients and team members understand not only what we are doing, but why. Stewardship is personal because leadership is temporary custody over culture, client trust, and financial resilience. We prioritize sustainable growth, ethical decision-making, and clear communication because reputation compounds over time.

Thanks to Alex Zadorian, Radcred!

17. Customer-focused marketing

I've always believed that a beautiful home shouldn't be a luxury reserved for the few. That belief drives every decision I make as a marketing leader. My approach, from how we communicate our brand to how we structure customer journeys online, is designed to break down barriers that keep people from upgrading their living spaces. Home renovations can feel intimidating and expensive, so my mission is to demystify the process and empower homeowners with the tools, information, and options they need to move forward confidently.

Thanks to Patrick Dinehart, Really Cheap Floors!

18. Relentless commitment

The personal value that drives how I run my team is relentless commitment to the process, to the client, and to getting the result right. I grew up in Louisville with a blue-collar mindset: you show up, you work hard, and you don't make excuses. That attitude carried me into real estate, and it's what's kept this team at the top. Houses don't sell themselves, and buyers don't find their perfect home by accident. It takes hustle, market knowledge, and someone who genuinely cares enough to go the extra mile every single time. I hold my team to that same standard because our clients deserve nothing less. At the end of the day, I want every person we work with to feel like they were our only client, and that only happens through genuine, consistent effort.”

Thanks to Jimmy Welch, The Jimmy Welch Team!

19. Authentic hiring matches

Having spent years as a remote worker myself, I know what it feels like to be mismatched with a company's culture and how transformative it is when the fit is truly right. The personal value that drives everything I do is authenticity. I never want to place a candidate somewhere just to close a deal. Every decision comes back to one question: Is this genuinely the right match? I focus on quality over quantity, connecting people with companies where they will truly thrive.

Thanks to Frederic S., RemoteCorgi!

20. Continuous improvement of Quality

I genuinely love what I do, and that love for the craft drives everything else. Home remodeling is an ever-evolving industry with new materials, techniques, and ways to make homes more functional and beautiful. My personal value of continuous improvement means I’m never satisfied with “good enough.” We invest in training, stay current on the best products available, and hold our workmanship to a standard I’m proud to stand behind. When a homeowner walks into a finished space and loves the result, that’s what makes the work worth it.

Thanks to Victor Fiore, Magnolia Home Remodeling Group!

21. Accountability leadership

Accountability is the value I return to constantly. In real estate, markets shift, deals fall through, and plans change, and I’ve learned that the only thing I can control is how I show up. My team often hears me say we don’t make excuses; we make adjustments. That mindset comes from building a business through hard seasons and taking ownership of choices, results, and culture. I hold myself to that standard because I can’t ask more of my team than I’m willing to give. Growing people is the mission.

Thanks to Betsy Pepine, Pepine Realty!

22. Transparent legal advocacy

Honesty is the foundation of everything I do, and it's non-negotiable. When someone walks into my office facing a DWI or a drug charge, they're scared, and the last thing they need is an attorney who overpromises just to sign a retainer. I tell people the truth about their case from day one, even when that truth is uncomfortable. Accountability and preparation guide my work because clients deserve thorough, relentless representation when their jobs, families, and futures are on the line.

Thanks to Jonathan F. Marshall, The Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall!

23. Outcome ownership

The personal value that drives how I run my company is ownership. I believe if you’re going to do something, you own the outcome, good or bad. That mindset shapes everything, from how we advise clients to how we hold ourselves accountable internally. We see this all the time with business owners. When they truly own their numbers, their decisions improve. When they avoid them, problems grow quietly in the background. Ownership creates clarity. Clarity builds confidence. And confident decisions build better businesses. That’s the standard I hold myself and my team to every day.

24. Service-first leadership

At the heart of how I run my company is an unwavering commitment to service-first leadership, the belief that every decision, strategy, and partnership should elevate people, community, and lasting impact above profit alone. I lead with empathy, integrity, and a relentless focus on delivering value that makes a tangible difference in my clients’ lives and my team’s growth. I hold myself accountable to the same high standard of care and excellence I expect from my team.

Thanks to Louise Peachman

25. Resilience, transparency, and long-term impact

My personal values are rooted in resilience, transparency, and long-term impact. Having experienced the pressure of running a struggling business myself, I understand how isolating and overwhelming it can feel. That experience shaped how I operate today, with empathy, strategic clarity, and a focus on sustainable growth rather than quick wins. I believe businesses fail from a lack of structure, guidance, and honest conversations. My mission is to help owners build scalable foundations, strengthen positioning, and create systems that allow them to grow with confidence.

Thanks to Mohi Gholamy, Legacy Capital Group!

26. Integrity in leadership

The personal value that drives how I run my company is integrity, especially when it’s inconvenient. It’s easy to be agreeable when everything is smooth, but honesty comes before comfort. If someone’s goals aren’t aligning with their habits, I address it directly because respecting people means telling the truth. Leadership also requires discernment, with empathy where it’s needed and strength where it’s required. I believe businesses should operate on clear standards, personal responsibility, and fairness, because integrity builds trust that lasts.

Thanks to Mick Owar, Primal Recovery!

27. Ethical pet guidance

I created Compare Pet Products to help Australian pet owners manage the rising cost of pet ownership, but the business is driven by my values around animal welfare and education. After working in animal shelters for over a decade, I saw firsthand the impact of pet overpopulation and the euthanasia of healthy dogs and cats. That experience shapes how I run my company, with all advice focused on ethical, responsible pet ownership rather than promoting breeders. I also built educational resources, including guidance on misleading treats and Australia’s first comprehensive pet product recall database.

Thanks to Brandon Cowan, Compare Pet Products!

28. Alignment, self-responsibility, and sustainable growth

The personal values that drive how I run my company are alignment, self-responsibility, and sustainable growth. I believe a business should not succeed at the expense of the founder’s well-being or the team’s psychological safety. Integrity guides our decisions, and we build systems that are honest about capacity, clear in expectations, and designed to reduce burnout rather than glorify hustle. Empowerment over dependency is key; structures distribute authority and reduce single-point reliance. Success is building an operation that reflects who we are and supports long-term resilience.

Thanks to Joanna Zhang, The Operations Genius!

29. Intensity and persistence

I’m driven by the belief that intensity beats talent. I wasn’t the smartest kid in school, and I’ve started more businesses than most advisors would recommend. But I outwork, out-test, and out-iterate. That mindset shapes how I run my businesses.  We don’t sit around crafting perfect strategies. We launch, gather data, refine, and relaunch. When I bought a struggling matcha café in London, most people said it was random. Maybe it was. But I care about building things that matter to me, and I care about building them well. I see business as a personal MBA I’m paying for in real time. If I fail, I learn. If I win, we scale. Either way, I’m obsessed with forward momentum.

Thanks to Deepak Shukla, Pearl Lemon Group!

30. Conservation and sustainability

What drives me and my business is a passion for the natural world and wildlife preservation for our future generations. I am very selective about where I will book my guests on a safari. I look carefully at how they dispose of their waste, what initiatives they have for reducing plastic waste, their footprint in the environment, and what they are contributing to local communities. I want my guests to feel like their trip to Africa has a very meaningful impact. I send guests to places that ignite their passion for conservation, be it planting a tree, conserving Lion or Rhino populations, or getting involved in the upliftment of local children and their families.

Thanks to Pierre-Phillippe Pitlo, African Safari Experts!

What is CBNation?

We're like a Global Business Chamber but with content...
LOTS OF IT

CBNation includes a library of blogs, podcasts, videos and more helping CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners level up

CBNation is a community of niche sites for CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners through blogs, podcasts and video content. Started in much the same way as most small businesses, CBNation captures the essence of entrepreneurship by allowing entrepreneurs and business owners to have a voice.

CBNation curates content and provides news, information, events and even startup business tips for entrepreneurs, startups and business owners to succeed.

+ Mission: Increasing the success rate of CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners.

+ Vision: The media of choice for CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners.

+ Philosophy: We love CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners and everything we do is driven by that. We highlight, capture and support entrepreneurship and start-ups through our niche blog sites.
